Postsynaptic inhibitions of trigeminal and lumbar motoneurons from the superficial radial nerve in the cat.

چکیده
Natural stimulation of the skin surface by pressuring or electrical stimulation of the cutaneous nerve may induce 'hypnotic', inactive or sleep state in the animal, besides evoking the segmental reflex activities 2.10,16,21,27). In this inhibitory influence, not only the motor activity but also the sympathetic nervous activity, as is indicated by the blood pressure or sweating 13.27), is involved. In anesthetized cat the spindle burst wave can be triggered in the neocortex from the cutaneous nerves1). This associates with the behavioral silence in case of the intact unanesthetized cat21). It is further known that, when the spindle burst appears in the neocortex, there is a depressive influence to the hind limb fusimotor neurons11). To investigate this inhibitory effect on the motor activity, the intracellular technique was applied in the present study to the trigeminal and lumbar motoneurons of the decerebrate cat.

Intracellular Analysis of Reflex Pathways Underlying the Stumbling Correction Reaction during Fictive Locomotion in the Cat
In cat and man contact between an obstacle and the dorsum of the foot evokes the stumbling correction reaction (reflex) that lifts the foot to avoid falling. This reflex can also be evoked by short trains of stimuli to the cutaneous superficial peroneal (SP) nerve in decerebrate cats during the flexion phase of fictive locomotion. Here we examine intracellular events in hindlimb motoneurons acc...

متن کاملThe effect of hypothyroidism on the trigeminal calcitonin gene-related peptide containing motoneurons: an immunohisto-chemical study in late neonatal life
CGRP, which coexists with acetylcholine in trigeminal motoneurons, could be one of the regulatory anterograde factors responsible for the enhanced expression of AChR subunits in neuromuscular junction. It has been also shown that low level of thyroid hormone plasma concentration has influence on the transitional development of muscle fibers and related motoneurons through a sever reduction in A...
متن کاملMorphological changes of lumbar spinal neurons after sciatic nerve transection in neonate rats
Axotomy of the sciatic nerve have been documented to cause neuronal loss, especially in newborn rats. Few works have focused on time course of neuronal loss and the type of cell death, which occurs after axotomy. Forty rat pups were anesthetized by hypothermia and the right sciatic nerve transected at five days of their age and the left side was used as control. The operated animals were sacrif...
متن کاملPost-Operative Time Effects after Sciatic Nerve Crush on the Number of Alpha Motoneurons, Using a Sterological Counting Method (Disector)
There are extensive evidences that show axonal processes of the nervous system (peripheral and/or central) may be degenerated after nerve injuries. Wallerian degeneration and chromatolysis are the most conspicuous phenomena that occur in response to injuries. In this research, the effects of post-operative time following sciatic nerve crush on the number of spinal motoneurons were investigated....
